Ocho Placas Tattoo Company

I've been getting tattoos at Ocho Placas for about 10 years (since back when they were in their original location). Some of the artists are no longer there, so I will focus this review in its current location with its current artists. If you don't already know, Ocho Placas takes up residence with White Rose Coffee Shop which adds a very unique vibe as well as the convenience of getting a yummy snack and bev while you wait (or during your tattoo break!) In this new location, I've been tattooed by Duda, Chris Calibur, and John Vale. Each artist has a unique style, and the same can be said for every other artist in the shop. But, what binds them together is their hospitality. They have always made me feel welcomed and taken care of. They even go as far to offer me a water or Gatorade if I need it. I love speaking to each artist, but they also give me some time to be non-verbal and lock in. I love that they each have a camaraderie between everyone in the shop, asking for second-opinions and showing off their work. I've had a mix of flash and custom work done, and they never make me feel weird if I want to make any adjustments. I've seen the work from the other artists, and I would love to get something from each and every one of them. They're all so talented, but I highly recommend looking into their style of work and getting something that they specialize in. There's nothing more satisfying than getting work done by an artist that's excited to do the piece on you. This review is long overdue, but Ocho Placas is one of my top tattoo shops because they are consistently great, I love the vibe enough to sit through hour long tattoos, the music is great, and every artist is amazing.

Absolutely blown away by my alligator tattoo — Natalia didn’t just tattoo skin, they brought a living, breathing beast to life. The detail is unreal, from the texture of the scales to the depth in the eyes… it honestly looks like it could crawl right off my arm. The line work is razor-sharp, the shading is insanely smooth, and the overall design is next-level creative. I came in with an idea and left with a straight-up masterpiece. If you’re even thinking about getting a tattoo, stop looking — this is the artist you want.

Cool spot with a Chill vibe, has a coffee shop that shares the space and has great coffee as well while you wait. Brian the tattoo artist that my wife had an appointment with was great! Definitely coming back for my next tattoo here.
