Elise is my tattoo artist and has done over 20 of my tattoos. (I posted a few of those below.) I have nothing but great things to say about her! Her professionalism, talent, and technique are fabulous. She has a lighter hand which I find makes for an easier time under the stab stabs. lol Elise always makes my sessions so enjoyable! And her chit-chat and banter is always a good time! I will forever recommend her. I also want to mention what a great experience Ray made my last visit. He is SO professional and such a sweet human. I brought my Mom and little Sister with me for our girls tattoo date day and He helped to make it such a smooth experience. Thank you Elise! See you again soon! 🫶🏼🙏🏼

This was my first time at Inkwell and I am already thinking about going back. My artist was Jordin, I could not be happier with the service provided. Very easy and fast communication. The shop is modern and industrial. Everything is very clean and the area is spacious. The staff were very welcoming.

Went with a friend for a re-work by Emerson at Inkwell of an existing, decade-old tattoo. The original tattoo had faded and the lines had blown out around the edges and the plan was to crisp things up, add color and add a few poppies around the existing tattoo. There had been a consultation a few weeks previous and my friend put a deposit of $80 down to hold the appointment time. During the consultation she was informed that the tattoo would cost $200/hr and take no more than 2 hours. The original image was about 3”x 5” in size, relatively small. The appointment was at 10:30a. We arrived a bit early and were greeted by the shop manager/receptionist and then Emerson, who told us it wasn’t 10:30 so we wouldn’t get started yet as she needed warmup time, which is totally understandable. We got to look at the beautiful shop and other artist flash. But Emerson then proceeded to help an apprentice tattooer for the next half hour. At 10:45a we approached her to remind her that we were waiting, and after a sickly sweet “thanks for your patience, I’ll be with you shortly” and a few more minutes with the apprentice she finally made an attempt to show the design to my friend. There were changes my friend wanted to make and we sat down so they could work out the design. It took several attempts to make it what my friend truly wanted (during this process Emerson kept saying that “when it’s on the skin it would make sense” and that “in color it would be better” and she “couldn’t show us color” on the iPad image, which she later did add because Procreate does allow color). When we finally arrived at the desired design Emerson said she’d set-up and get started (at about 11:20a). At 11:50a we were called over to Emerson’s station and they began the stencil placement. The tattoo began at almost noon exactly. We finished at 1:33p. It ended up being a very cute tattoo. When finished, Emerson announced that it was $410 for the 1.5 hour session in addition to the $80 deposit. Nearly $500 for 1.5 hours of tattooing time. I asked about it and she said she “had a timer going” and “the timer calculated all time worked” so she “didn’t have to think about it” and that “it included setup time”. I’ve been getting tattooed for almost 20 years and have NEVER had someone charge me for setup or design time (especially without stating so upfront), and I’ve never been ripped off the way Emerson ripped off my friend, who was very physically affected by the tattooing process and was feeling too unwell to push it further and demand fair payment. Even if charged for the setup time, though, the cost should have been $400, not $490. My friend, wanting to be a kind person and tip, gave her an extra $50 tip on top of that. $450 cash and $80 deposit equals $530 spent. Insane! The quality is decent, the design is cute, but the way she behaved is deplorable and a total scam. Would NOT recommend the artist, but the studio seems well maintained and the shop manager/receptionist was very attentive and nice.
