When searching for a portrait artist, I needed more than just talent; I wanted someone with a deep understanding of skin anatomy, light theory, and the patience for meticulous detail. After following Red’s work online for a year, I was consistently blown away. I originally booked an appointment for a single portrait of Peter Steele (Type O Negative). The result was breathtaking—his eye for detail is phenomenal. I was so impressed that I had him tattoo the rest of the band. His work on keyboardist Josh Silver is a perfect example of his skill: the beard texture, neck tattoo, and jewelry are flawless. The highlights on the jewelry, in particular, provide incredible depth and shine. What started as one portrait evolved into a full sleeve. Red took my idea of using the abbey in the Oakwood and elevated it, adding a silhouette of Peter playing his bass among the ruin in the graveyard. He perfectly captured the atmosphere of the band’s music through expert contrast and soft shading. We are currently working on a portrait of my first Pitbull, Molly, with my son. He has already captured the soulful look in her eyes so beautifully. If you want a creative artist who masters realism, look no further than Red.
