I gave this studio two chances, and unfortunately I won’t be returning. First visit: • My appointment ran over because not enough time was booked. • They stayed an hour after closing and did not charge me, which I appreciated. • However, the technique wasn’t great. Wax required multiple pulls to remove, and brushing occurred from the repeated attempts. • The overhead lighting is extremely bright and there’s a very cold fan blowing the entire time, which made the experience uncomfortable. • My skin was inflamed and tight for about three days afterward. Second visit: • My arm hair was deemed too short to wax, despite being near the usual 1/4 inch length. • During the chest waxing attempt, I was told my skin was “turning purple” and was asked to leave and get medical clearance before returning. • I saw my doctor, showed the photo, and he was not concerned at all. He noted a single folliculitis spot that predated the appointment and said the lighting could have distorted the color. Nothing was actually purple. Afterward: I tried a different studio. They used hard wax instead of soft wax, the service was significantly more professional, and I had zero inflammation afterward. Soft wax seems to be required by corporate here, and unfortunately it left me with more irritation, more mess, and more discomfort compared to hard wax used elsewhere. Overall, the staff were polite, but the technique, the inconsistent assessments, and the environment were not a good fit for me.

I went to Waxing the City on Friday for a Brazilian wax. This was my second visit in about a year and a half, and it immediately reminded me why I stopped coming in the first place. While the cerologist was friendly and made good conversation, the quality of the service was very disappointing. The service needs serious improvement...at this rate, Waxing the City will be waxing the floor. The staff clearly needs better training, or the business should reconsider operating. As a woman, being in such a vulnerable position during a service like this, it’s uncomfortable to speak up or show frustration about how the wax is being performed. During the appointment, the cerologist told me that one side would have more hair left because she couldn’t complete the wax fully due to my recent knee surgery. I was extremely patient and understanding, but this outcome was still unacceptable. Despite being dissatisfied, I still tipped. Overall, I left unhappy with the service and will be returning to European Wax Center downtown instead. Ladies, do yourselves a favor....Runnnnn & do not come here.
