After getting an unsatisfactory hair color at another salon, i decided to go to Bowie to get my hair trimmed and curtain bangs done. I'd been growing out my bangs for 4 months. The lady that was doing my hair, i had great conversation with. I showed her my reference photos and explained that I put my hair up for work and would like cute curtain bangs. My hair is in layers and has a V shape at the ends of my hair, she says she'll cut like 1.5 inch from the bottom which I agree to. When we finished i liked the way it looked at the salon but when I went home to play around and take a closer look at my hair, I was quite disappointed because my face framing was uneven, not as seamless as I'd hoped and harder to work with than before I went in for the cut. Also the bottom of my hair was now a blunt cut and uneven. When I put my hair up you can see how blocky it is now. If I was to fix my bangs and the bottom of my hair, I'd lose the length that I love and have short curtain bangs which i do not want. The price i paid for this trim and bangs cut, is not worth the outcome I was stuck with.

PS I updated with screenshots of convo and receipt !!! Since they said they don’t have me in the system, I want to be sure to highlight heaven forbid a gal travel. Also the cashier on the receipt is Scott — thank you! Have a nice day Hi -- first I want to say that I really understand everyone has bad days, and that the make up artist was doing her absolute best...I understand that, and she was so sweet, the only issue is she had absolutely no idea what to do / how to do makeup. We chit chatted and we were easily having a nice time -- she apologized for being an hour late -- she also apologized for ignoring my texts before the appointment requesting information on the products she would use since I have bourgeois skin :D and I could easily bring my stage make up. I had hand surgery and doing my make up was basically not feasible, so she did not let me know the make up she used prior, she apologized (like I genuinely think this young twenty year old girl was sorry), but she actually did use products that caused my skin to break out (im in my thirties), and continued to do my makeup in the least flattering way it has been done since about the seventh grade. I was really upset and when I asked her to fix the line, she didn't know how. The brushes, also were not cleaned before using them on my face, something she commented on. So anyway, I understand she was young and ttrying, like listen girl, I get it, I started out doing make up similarly so I tipped 20% on the over $100 make up fee. So anyway, this was actually in 2023, just to let you all know I have thought about this experience basically every week since August 2023 because it was so horrific. I mean genuinely, and I have not wanted to leave a review because I understand bad days, but today, I had a really lovely day and could do my own makeup with my fixed hand from surgery, and I was like oh wow, this really was so bad that I am embarrassed and the photos for the wedding were ruined (in my humble opinion) because of her inept work. If you don't know what you're doing, please don't ruin a memory for my life. SO anyway, I did tip really well (took , 20% which is mid, but she really should have refunded me. for the experience). IF that was not bad enough this poor girl was also hired to do a blow out. I have bouncy great hair, and she somehow used super hot heat to straighten it out, and when I said the blow out was so depressing, she said I'll use the curling iron (on high heat like what) and she managed to charge me $30 for the add on for the curling iron .....when she just didn't know how to use a blow dryer LMAO. I mean if. you've made it this far to reading, I spent I think about $280 for a 45 minute nightmare that ruined ,my family wedding photos. I am ashamed and I suppose the shame that I did not find somewhere better has caused me to not write a review but honestly, I just need people to know that if you are looking for professionals, skip this place. Also, the front desk treated me exceptionally poor and did not offer water when I requested some. This photo is what the make up artist who also did my hair who clearly had no training did to me in the black outfit. I had my mom do it the next day for a formal dim sum and this is what my 68 year old mom could do for me...(in the teal dress). I can highly suggest this place rethink their business structure. Thank you for coming to my ted talks.

I went to Danielle once in the beginning of July 2024, she did my hair just fine I was happy with it. I went to her again in mid-November 2024 as I was planning my first ever vacation & wanted to ensure my hair had 2 weeks to grow out before leaving for Hawaii so my hair would not be too fresh & choppy (how it goes of course). She absolutely botched my bangs in November, and while I did get upset with a few tears falling down, I kept myself best composed while talking to her letting her know I was simply unhappy with the bangs as they were lopsided & choppy, and as that I had previously explained to her- a very important haircut. I even reassured her that I was not upset with her for the mishap, but that I was upset about the situation & pressure of the trip. I apologized multiple times for being upset (I shouldn’t have) & she did not apologize once for messing up my hair, just saying she would try to fix it. Eventually she said we should wait the two weeks & fix them the day before I left & did not charge me for the service (the least she could have done, the curtain bangs were horrible). I still tipped $20 or $25 for her time & later went back to have my bangs fixed- tipped her $15 on a $10 service for the adjustment. Nonetheless I continuously recommended both Danielle & the salon to many people at work, social events, out in the city, etc. I have still stopped by the salon to buy products (I’ve spent about $1500 at this salon) & they have welcomed me each time so they at least get sales. When asking for Daniel’s availability (in the middle of 2025 summer) so I would be able to get another haircut, I was told she was booked out 4 months in advance. I was kind of shocked but nonetheless happily got on the waitlist then. I called again just a week or so ago & was told she was still booked 3 months out. I go on their website for the first time & she had SEVERAL appointments available within the next three weeks. Booked the appointment and paid it. A week and some change go by and I just today received a call (7 days before the appointment I’ve been long awaiting) saying my deposit has been refunded as “Danielle does not feel comfortable being my stylist & no one else is a good fit in the salon for me.” … I’m sorry ?? What the hell is that about?. She botched my service, I momentarily cried but apologized that it was my anxiety, still tipped her very well, and I was overly kind and very understanding of her complete mishandling of my hair. The stylist & receptionist put me off and lied to me about availability for almost 5 months but happily took my money for hair / other beauty products. I would have been more understanding had she, or any one, said something when I came in for the bang adjustment rather than dodging someone who was being a happily patient client for 9 months. From this experience Danielle is unprofessional, doesn’t understand how to be an adult with communication when there is an issue, or accountability for how someone IS allowed to be upset when she messes up. As I like the owner & a shampoo they sell- hopefully I won’t be banned from the store for expressing my opinion because shunning people seems to be their thing. Disappointing.
