Reviews
I'll start by saying, this is the worst hair experience I've had in my entire life....... I originally got hand tied extensions done in my hometown. It was going on week 7 and I was thinking about flying home to Ohio to get them moved up, but I decided to look for a salon in Tampa that could provide the service to me. I have blonde hair which gets highlighted about every 6-8 weeks so I also needed to be color matched and toned to keep the match going, while dealing with Tampa's hard water. After looking at salon reviews online, I called around to a few for pricing. Eyes On You Salon really caught my eye with a 4.8 review and GREAT pricing that I was quoted over the phone by the salon OWNER herself. A few days before my appointment, I receive a text from a former employee of the salon that said I had booked with her and that she has now moved salons, inquiring if I wanted to get my services at her new salon. I was confused and called Eyes On You Salon because they also sent me an appointment reminder to still come to their salon. I called to speak with the business owner and she was very unprofessional, stating that this former employee was obviously trying to steal their business. I expressed my concerns and defaulted to trying to cancel my appointment with the salon, but the owner insisted that I would have a great experience, even when I expressed being nervous about having a blonde professional. She coerced me into keeping the appointment and telling me I couldn't cancel because I had already paid a deposit. She basically assured me that I would have a wonderful experience. When I arrived, I was greeted by the owner and only one other hairstylist in the building. A woman named Chyna was my given hairstylist and she was so kind. I was already having a lot of anxiety this morning so I just really wanted good results. When she began, we were getting along great and I felt really good about the experience. It seemed to take a very long time as I was creeping on 5 hours. She removed my hand tied extensions, then began to correct my blonde hair with highlights, and finished with a toner. She washed the extensions separately, but never toned them. She then proceeded to install back my extensions. I noticed that she was using beads, which I had never had on my previous install so I asked a lot of questions and she assured me this was normal and that my previous lady in Ohio just did such a great job that I couldn't see them. She curled my hair once finished and asked to get a few photos on the flower wall. Once finished, I was ready to go as I had plans for the day with my boyfriend. I ended at the cash register with the owner and my total was 892 dollars and I left 100 dollar tip just simply because the stylist was so nice and actually helped me with my anxiety whether she realized it or not. Once I got home, I could see pieces of my extensions showing plain as day through my hair. I started to inspect the extensions and noticed how horrible of a job she had just done. I became very upset and saddened by the way my hair looked. My real hair did not at all match the extensions as my extensions were more of a golden blonde and she toned my real hair to be an ashy, grey tone. The extensions were so noticeable that I had to wear a hat to dinner that night. They started coming out. There was a long string in my hair that was obviously the sewn hair starting to fall from the thread. I texted the salon owner to let her know my experience and included videos and pictures. She did not seem at all concerned and told me to come in tomorrow and we would fix it. She did not offer a full refund when I came in and still charged me for a butchered job. She blamed my scalp and told me I shouldn't have had extensions. There is nothing wrong with my scalp & why didn't she say that from the JUMP??? STUPID PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PICTURES FOR REFERENCE
edit: nearly 6 months later, im still waiting for my hair to get to a point where I can get it cut normally. my bangs still look awful from having to grow out from her wack job on my hair. Maria cut my hair. She gave me a cut that looks like i have a bowl cut whenever i put my hair up because she added so much UNNECESSARY hair to my bangs. My bangs literally start from past the middle of my head now and go straight across my forehead. my bangs look HUGE, choppy, and super short and its embarrassing. they dont blend into my hair at all. I asked for layers and instead she just thinned my hair out by cutting 7 inches off. no face framing like what i wanted. i have had bangs for over a decade and would NEVER ask for a thick fringe. anyone who also has bangs, oily hair, and lives in florida knows why. I hate looking into the mirror now. she has set me back YEARS of hair growth. I find it hilarious that she was unable to do the hairstyle i wanted and blamed my hair texture (despite…the women in the photo have the exact texture i have lol??) yet still did the cut. if you as a hairstylist dont feel like you can give a client what you want, you should admit that instead of blaming the client and messing up their hair and wasting their money.
I’ve held off on writing this for a long time. But now I have consulted enough professionals in the hair industry I am finally educated enough to know what happened to me. I hate leaving negative reviews. I truly do. I try so hard to avoid it. But- I had extensions sewn in- done in another state. I did leave them in too long and it caused some scalp damage and a lot of falling out. But the hair extensions were NOT sewn onto all of my hair. They were sewn into 1/3 of my hair. The other 60% of my hair that was left untouched by the extensions was still thick and healthy. I went into eyes on you Salon and my problem is the extremely harsh chemical damage I came out with from what the stylist put on my head before doing highlights. I have baby fine hair that I’ve never had damaged from salon visits , because I don’t go to the salon but maybe once every two years and when I go in they immediately recognize my hair is baby fine. I’ve had good quality natural hair all my life. Although it has always been color treated once every 2 years, I rarely use heating tools and it’s remained strong and healthy. I’m 37. I was unhappy with how much of my hair I had lost from leaving my extensions in too long, but the hair I had left was FINE and healthy until the stylist dumped a harsh chemical and shampooed it out. When she shampooed whatever harsh clarifier this was out of my hair , my hair was like dry crackling brittle straw. She started brushing it and brushing it and the HUGE clumps of hair coming out of my head made no sense. I was genuinely crying and freaked out. She mentioned she had to put a clarifier on before doing the highlights, and They blamed the huge clumps of hair filling the brush , all on the extensions I left in too long but- that can’t be possible because my actual hair - the strands themselves had been completely FRIED by whatever she put on my head, and were breaking off mid- strand. I’ve never had such a harsh syrum poured all over my head before. It absolutely destroyed the actual protein and fiber of my hair that I had left. She did a great color job with the highlights , but the quality of my hair has been ruined. It’s been a few months and my hair is breaking off so badly mid- strand. The strands look completely different now than they did my whole life. Every strand is thin, crinkly, rigid, dry, weak, brittle. From root to end. Not straight silky and long like they always were before. Every time I brush my hair even gently, so much breakage occurs. I’ve taken all the collagen I can like they said to do, and no difference. The damage to the actual hair itself from this visit is irreparable and irreversible. I literally have to re-grow a whole new head of hair. I have been so upset by this experience. The ladies were so nice ,and the color job was great, but my hair is destroyed. How is this possible having never had this occur at any other salon in my life? I’ve spoken with over 13 professional stylists now and they all say it is absolutely severe chemical damage. The stylist was apparently supposed to do a strand test or at least recognize how harsh of syrum she was choosing to use for my type of hair and downgraded. I don’t know but I know I’ve had highlights and dye jobs plenty in my life and never had the fried hair I have now , after this service :( The hair loss from the extensions was tough enough. So altogether it’s been really hard to accept. This is exactly why I almost never get my hair done. This is my worst nightmare. I’m sure they meant well but this is what I’m left with.
