This might be an unusual review. I wasn’t 100% happy with my initial experience, but I had a follow-up conversation with Michael, the salon owner, and I really appreciate how he handled the situation. Often, when you share a concern, the business side can become defensive, but what really impressed me about Michael was his growth mindset and the way he genuinely welcomed constructive feedback. He truly has a soft heart for customers ❤️. He took the time to listen, organized a team meeting promptly, and made sure the feedback was understood. He is also a genuine mentor to his staff. I’m very impressed by the effort he’s putting into building an educational salon where all stylists can learn from his perspective and expertise. I experienced this firsthand where Michael immediately understood what I wanted and took the time to guide and teach the other stylist. His vision for creating a place where the team can keep improving, communicate clearly with guests, and grow together really sets this salon apart. I genuinely respect the intention and leadership behind the community he’s trying to build.

I have a little bit of haircut trauma from other hairstylists that made me TERRIFIED to let anyone touch my hair. However, Pure Mettle completely changed my view, and I have never felt more comfortable in a salon EVER!!! Mila is a sweetheart, is always game for even my most absurd haircut ideas, and takes utmost care, has amazing attention to detail, and goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable in the salon chair! There's zero judgment for my DIY bangs, rough bleach jobs, or that one time with the craft scissors ... She's incredibly communicative, walks you through the process (especially if you're anxious like me), and works with you to achieve your dream results. Included services like the scalp massage, all natural hair wash, and my personal favorite add-on, strengthening hair mask, make me feel like a literal princess. They also offer protein bars, coffee, tea, etc. while you're in the chair, and make sure you're comfortable for the longest of color treatments. If you're looking for a nonjudgmental space for an alternative/gender affirming haircut, look no further, and make sure to book with Mila!!

Madison did a fantastic job on my hair, it came out even better than I expected! She is sweet, knowledgeable and fully listens to what you want done with your hair. It was a great experience coming here :) Also, everyone is very hospitable and welcoming ....they will offer you coffee, water, candy etc. Everyone is smiling and seems to enjoy what they do which is very refreshing to see/experience. The place itself is very charming and designed well. It has a warm, natural, happy vibe to it. Highly recommend :)
